There are many excellent summer programs for kids in Telluride, including the Pinhead Punk Science program, Tuesday evenings from 5:00 – 6:00 in the Mountain Village by the climbing rock in front of the Conference Center. It is a hands-on kids’ science program hosted by Pinhead Institute in collaboration with TSRC.
The Telluride Academy offers week-long summer camp programs and is the largest and most diverse youth organization in Western Colorado. The Academy has over 100 unique arts and outdoor enrichment programs serving kids from ages 4-18. Programs explore everything from wildflowers to whitewater, art to theater, rock climbing to mountain biking, science to rock painting, mountaineering to kayacking, and more. Ah Haa School for the Arts. Founded in 1990 by artist Daniel Tucker, the desire of Ah Haa School is to inspire those "ah haa" moments fo any artist at any age or level. At least once a week, the Town of Telluride Bear Creek Ranger takes kids for a free, guided hike up Bear Creek Canyon. After finishing an activity book and completing a project, the kids are certified as junior rangers. Horseback Riding is available through Many Ponies Outfit on Wilson Mesa in the summer months. Paul Finley and Lisa Foxwell have offered their talents and love of horses to people of all ages for more than 20 years in Telluride and are wonderful with beginners and experienced riders. Guided two-hour, half-day, and full-day trail rides are offered. They also provide excellent English and Western riding lessons.
