Laura O'Connor

Laura O'Connor

Originally from Louisiana, Laura Lewis O’Connor left for college in California at Stanford University and eagerly adopted the West as home. A corporate securities attorney, with a law degree from UCLA School of Law, Laura worked as an oxymoronic happy lawyer for Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., in Palo Alto, and for Jenkens & Gilchrist, in Dallas, as well as counsel for PDT, a New York City-based quantitative hedge fund, and as general counsel for a small start-up life insurance company in Santa Barbara. She also devoted many years as a community volunteer.

Laura currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Episcopal High School, a boarding school in Alexandria, Virginia, and on the Board of Overseers for the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. As a trustee for the Santa Barbara Museum of Art for over eight years, Laura enjoyed roles such as Board Secretary and Governance and Nominating Committee Chair. Laura also enthusiastically served nine years on the Crane Country Day School Board of Trustees, in Montecito, including four years as Board Chair.

Laura and her husband, Kevin O’Connor, split their time between two of the most beautiful places on earth, Telluride and Santa Barbara. Their family includes six adult children, spread throughout the country, and two active Australian Shepherds, Cobalt and Revel (“Revy”: named for Revelation Bowl). Laura loves learning, skiing, running, hiking, writing, reading history, watching football, and entertaining friends and family.
