Can a virus be turned into a cure? Clodagh O’Shea, of the Salk Institute will present  “When the Cure Is a Virus: Reprogramming a Killer to Fight Cancer.” O’Shea, who holds the Wicklow Chair at Salk and has been named an HHMI Faculty Scholar and an Allen Distinguished Investigator, will share how her lab reengineers viruses to seek out and destroy cancer cells while leaving healthy tissue unharmed—research she is now advancing toward patients as scientific founder of the biotech company IconOVir Bio. A conversation with Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning journalists Judy Muller and George Lewis and an audience Q&A will follow.

Town Talks will be held on Tuesdays at the Telluride Conference Center in Mountain Village June 9 to August 11 (please note the July 28 talk will be at the Sheridan Opera House). Doors open at 6 pm and the program starts at 6:30 pm. Free and open to the public.
